2018 Advanced Summer School on Continuation Methods for Nonlinear Problems
August 13–24, 2018
A two-week Advanced Summer School on Continuation Methods for Nonlinear Problems will be held on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), August 13-24, 2018, co-organized by Harry Dankowicz (UIUC) and Jan Sieber (University of Exeter).
After attending the Advanced Summer School on Continuation Methods for Nonlinear Problems, participants will be able to formulate and analyze finite- and infinite-dimensional continuation problems using the Matlab-based open-source software platform COCO, and will understand how to apply parameter continuation methods to problems in constrained design optimization and real-time analysis of dynamical systems defined by black-box simulators or physical experiments. Detailed information about the summer school is available at http://danko.mechanical.illinois.edu/AdvancedSummerSchool.htm.
Applications to participate in the summer school are invited from PhD students and postdocs across the dynamics community. Applications are strongly encouraged from traditionally underrepresented groups. Applicants who indicate an intent to also attend the 14th International Conference on Multibody Systems, Nonlinear Dynamics, and Control in Quebec City between August 26-29, 2018 will be given priority.
To apply: send a current CV and one-page statement of interest by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org by April 1, 2018
Logistics: On-campus lodging, including breakfast, parking, and access to the University Activities and Recreation center, will be available at no cost at the Illini Union Hotel. Partial travel support may be available to international participants.
The summer school is made possible by financial support from the ASME Design Engineering Division and the ASME Technical Committee on Multibody Systems and Nonlinear Dynamics.
Best regards on behalf of the organizers,
Harry Dankowicz, Jan Sieber.
