The DS track at the 2014 Annual Meeting

At the Annual Meeting in Chicago, last July, our activity group organised a track of seven minisymposia and a plenary lecture. Track coordinator Lennaert van Veen gives an overview.

AIMS

AIMS

The 10th American Institute of Mathematics (AIMS) Conference on Differential Equations, Dynamical Systems and Applications took place in Madrid between July 7 and July 11. This event, which attracted many researchers from all over the world, was held on the Cantoblanco Campus of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and was co-organized by the Instituto de Ciencias Matemáticas (ICMAT), together with other institutions. Ágata A. Timón (ICMAT) provides an account of the meeting's many activities.

Reflections on the Contributions of Cardiac Electrophysiology Modeling

Reflections on the Contributions of Cardiac Electrophysiology Modeling

The dynamics of cardiac normal and abnormal rhythms were discussed at the Workshop on Large-scale Modeling in Cardiac Electrophysiology, held in June at Dalhousie University in Canada. Participants offered perspectives on the direction of the field over the years.

Dynamical systems applied to neural mass and neural field models

Dynamical systems applied to neural mass and neural field models

At the last annual meeting of the Organization for Computational Neurosciences (OCNS), there was a lot of attention on neural mass and neural field models, the latter of which treat the mammalian cortex as a continuous, excitable medium. These approaches lead to models that comprise nonlinear ODEs or PDEs, space-dependent delays and other challenging aspects of dynamical systems theory. Stefanos Folias gives an overview of recent work in this fast-growing field of research.
