Edward Lorenz, Professor of Meteorology, Emeritus, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, passed away on Wednesday, April 16. He was 90 years old.

Herb Keller 1925-2008

Herbert B. Keller, Professor of Applied Mathematics, Emeritus, at the California Institute of Technology, passed away on Saturday, January 26. He was 82 years old.

The MEC Lab at the University of Delaware

The University of Delaware MEC lab uses modeling, experiment, and computation to teach students applied math. The lab consists of a number of faculty working in a variety of loosely connected fields of applied math. It incorporates graduate students working on research, undergraduate students taking part in a capstone course or a summer research program, and outreach programs for local high schools.

Dynamical Systems at North Carolina State University

North Carolina State University has a tradition of dynamical systems and biological applications going back to the 1960's. The research in the Mathematics Department is enhanced by contact with other departments both at NC State and at nearby universities in the Research Triangle, and with other research organizations in the area.
