DSWeb Dynamical Systems Software aims to collect all available software on dynamical systems theory. This project was originally launched during the special year Emerging Applications of Dynamical Systems, 1997/1998, at the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications. The information here includes functionality, platforms, languages, references, and contacts.

To the Memory of Jack K. Hale (1928-2009)

"In the Emory Hospital of Atlanta, in the early morning of December 9, 2009, there passed away a great man, Jack K. Hale -- a founding father of numerous areas of modern dynamics, a noble scholar and teacher, and a mentor and dear friend of many of us around the world."
In this article Jack is commemorated by Yingfei Yi, who also interviewed him in 2003 for DSWeb Magazine.

To the memory of L.P. Shilnikov

On 26th Dec 2011, the world lost one of the true pioneers of nonlinear dynamical systems theory; Leonid Pavlovich Shilnikov. He will be sadly missed.
Alan Champneys commemorates LP with an obituary.

Topics in Nonlinear Dynamics and Complexity

In the week of February 19-23, 2007, a workshop was held in Puebla, Mexico on "Topics in Nonlinear Dynamics and Complexity". The workshop brought together physicists and applied mathematicians working in nonlinear dynamics and related complex systems. Mike Henderson (IBM T. J. Watson Research Center) was there and reports on the meeting.

Two jobs, two countries, two homes

Yulij Il’yashenko is well known in the dynamical systems community for his work on the 16th Hilbert problem, generic properties of dynamical systems, and non-local bifurcations. He works part-time both at Cornell University in the USA and at Moscow State University, the Independent University and the Steklov Institute in Russia. Hinke Osinga asked him what it was like to grow up in the former USSR and how he has come to enjoy his life split between two continents.
