Snowbird Meeting Turns Chaotic

Snowbird Meeting Turns Chaotic

At the recent SIAM Conference on Dynamical Systems, several hundred attendees attempted to replicate an excitable system by organizing into a human spiral wave. Georgia Tech graduate student Andrea Welsh, who helped to direct the efforts, reports on the results of the experiment, including a video of the event.

Dynamics at the Society for Mathematical Biology Conference

The recent Society for Mathematical Biology meeting featured plenty of applications of dynamics. Georgia Tech graduate student Bradford Taylor provides an overview of the conference.

3rd Bremen Winter School and Symposium: Diffusion on Fractals and Non-linear Dynamics

The international winter school and symposium with over 60 participants attempted to bridge a rather disparate set of topics: diffusion on fractals, quasi-crystals, non-linear waves and chaotic dynamics. Somewhat surprisingly, this worked out rather well.
